Epitech pools (Python and Java)
Two intensive weeks of daily programming exercises at the start of the Pré-MSc, in Python then Java, graded automatically every evening.
Context & objective
The “pools” are Epitech’s intensive weeks: a new subject every day, pushed with Git and graded by automated tests every evening.
What I built
- Python pool (September 2026): string utilities, classic ciphers, letter-frequency analysis, and a complete Hangman game in Pygame.
- Java pool (October 2026): daily packages on inheritance, polymorphism, abstract classes and interfaces, generic collections, custom exceptions and design patterns.
Challenges
- Going from terminal scripts to an event-driven game loop in Pygame in a few days.
- Fitting strict object-oriented constraints and passing the automated tests every evening.
What I learned
The pools are less about the languages than about the rhythm.
- Delivering every day. A new subject each morning and tests each evening: you push what works, even when it isn’t perfect.
- Reading a spec strictly. Automated tests catch any gap between the subject and your code, so the details matter.
